Know Your Maker
Esen Woodcraft is Matija Rizner, who designs and hand crafts beautiful high quality wooden utensils in his small Esen wood shop located in the picturesque area of Ruse, Slovenia.
Black Walnut is considered one of the strongest and most durable of the hardwood family. In a process of crafting, wooden cutlery is several times soaked in water, dried and sanded again, resulting in an extremely smooth surface texture. Each piece is unique and chosen to reveal the beauty seen in the colour and grain of the wood. The wood is locally harvested in Slovenia, without the need for any harmful fertilizers, pesticides or glues. Matija works co-operatively with local farmers to often source local wood that has been felled in the region. Each item has a different appearance, due to the nature of the wood, no two are alike. The item you purchase may very slightly from the image due to the hand crafted nature.
CARE: Hand wash only in warm water with a mild detergent, do not leave them in water. Not suitable for oven, microwave or dishwasher. Oil your wood utensils 2-3 times per year using vegetable or mineral oil and they will stay beautiful for years to come.
