Know Your Maker

Sowden is based in Milan, Italy, as a design company started in the 1970's by British born George Sowden, one of the original founders of the Memphis design Group. Dedicated to designing functional and decorative pieces, he cultivates a personal interest in working with craft and small industrial organisations, which together with his work related to pattern and decoration, goes back to the 1970s and continues today.

The design phase Sowden's work takes place in their Milano studio, where their designers develop ideas and refine every product detail. This process is closely connected to their collaboration with technical teams in China, with whom they maintain an ongoing dialogue throughout production.
