Handmade Wood Salad Servers

Our handmade wood salad servers are unique dining accessories for the eco-friendly kitchen.

A collaboration between Civil Dawn Studio x Esen Woodcraft. They were designed in conjunction with Esen Woodcraft in Slovenia, these wooden salad servers were inspired by the utilitarian, minimal designs of mid-century tableware.

The black walnut is handcrafted with thought given to the nature of the wood resulting in a sleek silky texture. This pair of salad servers have a slight curve on the serving end, perfect for picking up delicate foods and leaves and the flat handles sit comfortably in the palm of your hand.  Rustic and functional, used individually, they make great food flippers!

Know Your Maker

Esen Woodcraft is Matija Rizner, who designs and  hand crafts beautiful high quality wooden utensils in his small Esen wood shop located in the picturesque area of Ruse, Slovenia.
Black Walnut is considered one of the strongest and most durable of the hardwood family. In a process of crafting, wooden cutlery is several times soaked in water, dried and sanded again, resulting in an extremely smooth surface texture. Each piece is unique and chosen to reveal the beauty seen in the colour and grain of the wood. The wood is locally harvested in Slovenia, without the need for any harmful fertilizers, pesticides or glues. Matija works co-operatively with local farmers to often source local wood that has been felled in the region.  Please note that due to the hand-carved nature of this product, each piece expresses minor variations in wood grain, colour and dimensions.

CARE: Hand wash only in warm water with a mild detergent, do not leave them in water. Not suitable for oven, microwave or dishwasher. Oil your wood utensils 2-3 times per year using vegetable or mineral oil.
